If anyone asks me what I love most about my work in DEI, I have to say it is having conversations about DEI. Why is that? When I am in community with other practitioners, I find that I get to hear different perspectives and challenge myself in this space.
Last year, I started working with a client to host a series of conversations at the intersection of diversity, business, and academia. Through this monthly (now quarterly – the next one is April 21st!) series, I have met with some of the most brilliant minds in this industry. It was through this project that I met Janet M. Stovall. What captured my attention was our discussion on the need for DEI to have an interdisciplinary and that there are currently no academic programs that offer their diversity courses as such. Everything she said was in complete alignment with the conversations I’ve had through the years.
When I launched DEI After 5, I immediately knew that I wanted Janet to be one of my guests. In this episode, not only do we continue our conversation on the interdisciplinary nature of this work but also on the importance of communications and driving culture change. This has to be one of my favorite episodes to date!
